SEREMBAN: Barisan Nasional candidate for the Jeram Padang seat Datuk Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir suffered a broken left leg following a traffic accident along Jalan Pasir-Besar Monday (July 31) morning.

Tampin OCPD Supt Anuwal Wahab said the accident happened while Mohd Zaidy and his assistant were heading towards Bahau from Palong at around 3am.

"Mohd Zaidy was driving a 4WD when the accident happened. His was the only car involved in the mishap," he said in a statement Monday.

Supt Anuwal said Mohd Zaidy's assistant suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to the Jempol Hospital.

He urged eyewitnesses to contact the police at 06-441 2502 or 06 4431999 to help in investigations.

The case, he said, is being probed under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Mohd Zaidy will be up in a straight fight against Perikatan Nasional's Datuk Seri S. Surash in the Aug 12 polls.

In the 2018 election, the seat was won by Barisan's Datuk L. Manickam.
