PUTRAJAYA: No official report has been made on the purported “Made in Malaysia” inscription on the blown-off door plug of an Alaska Airlines flight, says Anthony Loke.

The Transport Minister said that such an issue was also not under his purview and that as no official report was made to the ministry on the matter, he would not be saying anything.

"We have not received any information and that is not under my purview. I cannot comment on it as that report was merely from a public eyewitness. If there is any official report on this, then we will look into it," said Loke at a media conference held after delivering his 2024 New Year address to the Transport Ministry staff here Friday (Jan 12).

He further said should there be any official report, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) will look into the matter.

On Jan 5, an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 made an emergency landing in Portland, Oregon after a door plug was blown-off mid-air.

On Tuesday, a news portal known as Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) reported how a school teacher in Portland allegedly found the door plug that had torn off from the aircraft in his backyard.

It was reported that the writing on the door plug allegedly stated that it was manufactured in Malaysia.
