State polls: 478 senior cops, personnel from Melaka deployed in Negri


MELAKA: The state police contingent has deployed 478 senior officers and personnel to bolster law enforcement on polling day in neighbouring Negri Sembilan on Saturday (Aug 12).

Melaka deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Md Nazri Zawawi said the personnel were deployed in 31 vehicles, involving 14 lorries, 11 vans and six buses.

“In addition to this, we have also sent 24 motorcycles and four high-powered bikes to Negri Sembilan to ensure a smooth election process.

“The assistance from here to the neighbouring state will be until the election is over or in accordance with the needs of our counterparts there,” he said after the sending-off ceremony at Melaka police headquarters in Bukit Beruang here on Thursday (Aug 10).
