State polls: Tok Mat, Aminuddin among early-bird voters

PETALING JAYA: Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan was among the first of the unity government's big guns to vote on Saturday (Aug 12).

The Barisan Nasional election director and Rembau MP arrived at SKJC Chung Hua in Rantau, Negri Sembilan, at 8.30am to cast his ballot.

Mohamad said it was a clean campaign here from both sides, adding that he was pleased on the mature politics seen in Rantau during the campaign period.

“Other places I can’t say and I know there were some ‘hot areas’ but in Rantau we respect one another. We have seen both sides run their campaign healthily with no personal attacks against each other,” he said.

He also urged voters to come out early to vote due to uncertain weather conditions later in the day.

Mohamad will be defending his Rantau seat against Perikatan’s Rozmal Malakan from PAS.

Caretaker Negri mentri besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun of Pakatan Harapan arrived at SMK Dato' Hj Mohd Redza in Sikamat at 8.34am.

In Penang, Padang Kota candidate Chow Kon Yeow arrived at the voting centre in SJKC HU Yew Seah in Jalan Madras at 8.05am.

After casting his vote, the Penang DAP chairman posed for pressmen with Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying, her father Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang and Komtar candidate Teh Lai Heng.

On the Opposition side, Perikatan Nasional's Bayan Lepas candidate and Gerakan president Datuk Dominic Lau arrived at SM Tanjung Bungah at 8.27am.
