The newly elected Tourism and Environment minister Aditya Thackeray stated that Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) school kids will now have  Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum.

The first ICSE Board School will start at Wollen Mill Municipal School in Mahim and the first CBSE Board school will start at Poonam Nagar in Jogeshwari East and there will be free admission for students.

However, the question about the necessary infrastructure and trained teachers for ICSE and CBSE will always be there. Currently, schools need to undergo thorough inspections and quality checks to be affiliated with ICSE and CBSE. Talking about the same, Swati Popat Vats from Poddar School said,

The current trend of ICSE and CBSE boards starting in BMC schools has its pros and cons. The cons are that the SSC or the State Board may decline if it's not going to be offered even in the BMC schools. The pros are that the parents of these kids will now have access to quality education for their kids provided that if they implement things where quality is taken into serious consideration, then its a very welcoming move and will enhance education.

Maharashtra Home Minister Ajit Pawar had recently stated that they will be adopting Delhi's education method in Maharashtra's schools to increase the quality of education. Recently, Aditya Thackeray discussed the changes in the education system at the HUII conference that was held at Taj in Colaba. He said,

After evaluating everything, we have come to the conclusion that there are two main reasons that children drop out of Municipal schools. The first one is that the kids migrate to their hometowns or villages and leave their education midway. Another reason is that these children prefer selling items roadside than attending schools as they feel that feeding their family and themselves is important.
