In our tenth episode, we meet Mary Twitchett. Mary is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Arbury Road Surgery in Cambridge, she's also an age-group athlete and strength and conditioning coach. In 2018, just weeks after winning her age group category in the Los Angeles marathon by a whopping 11 minutes, she discovered a lump in her chest when stretching. Knowing not to ignore it, she was referred to the Breast Clinic at Addenbrookes who confirmed it was stage 3 breast cancer. In this episode, Mary shares how she handled her cancer diagnosis and the subsequent operations and treatment. Exercise has always played an important role in her life, and continues to do so in her treatment journey. Mary is incredibly passionate about encouraging others going through a cancer journey to get active, she set up the Cambridge arm of the 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer initiative which meets once a month at the Coldham's Common Parkrun and delivers regular bursts of joyful energy, inclusive exercise videos and all round optimism on her instagram @marytwitchett.
