Coffee On The Go
Every stainless steel, double-walled Moccamaster carafe comes with two lids. With the Brew-Thru lid in place, you can brew and pour your coffee, minimizing heat loss. On the go? Switch to the travel lid and enjoy hot coffee wherever your day takes you.
Tested and Approved
We evaluate Moccamaster coffee brewers across the four T’s of coffee brewing: temperature, time, turbulence, and total dissolved solids (TDS). A brewer that performs within the ideal ranges of the four T’s produces the perfect ratio of coffee flavor compounds extracted into water, which the SCA refers to as “the golden cup.” That ratio creates the flavors we enjoy when we sit back with a good cup of coffee, and every Moccamaster hits that mark every brew cycle.
The Coffee Brewer for Coffee Lovers
Since 1968, Moccamaster coffee brewers have set the global benchmark for at-home coffee brewing. Designed to extract the maximum flavor from your grounds in about 4-6 minutes, coffee from a Moccamaster is comparable to what you would brew using a more complex manual process or drink in a café.
We build our coffee brewers to last, using only the highest quality materials and offering replacement parts. With proper care and maintenance, this should be the last coffee brewer you ever need to buy.
- Moccamaster coffee brewers are handmade in heart of the Netherlands.
- Our brewers have a durable metal housing and use a copper boiling element to heat the water, which allows for consistent water temperature control.
- All plastics are BPA, BPS, BPF, and phthalate-free.
- We individually test every brewer before it leaves our factory.

The Machine: Easy to setup and clean. Simple, minimalist user interface, seemingly high-quality components. Incredibly fast brewing time. No bells, whistles, alarms or beeps. Just a button to turn it off and on. No heating element to worry about with the stainless steel carafe. Also a manual lever that closes off or opens up the drip chamber. A bit more to remember than a machine that does everything automatically, but I have absolutely zero complaints about this.
The Coffee: The best cup of coffee i’ve ever brewed and maybe even the best cup of drip coffee I’ve ever tasted. I am not exaggerating. This machine changed what I understand about coffee. It literally converted my wife from someone who doctors her coffee with a lot of creamer to preferring the coffee black. It did take some dialing in and experimentation with grind size (I went more coarse) and the coffee-to-water ratio, but after a few carafes I stumbled upon perfection. I seriously had chills tasting this coffee for the first time. It amazes me how the same beans I used in other drip machines can produce such wildly different results with a better quality machine and some minor tweaking of the inputs.
The Value: Before I tasted the coffee it produces, the price was hard to swallow. This was by far the most money I’ve ever spent on a coffee maker, but I was tired of burning through cheaper machines that produced mediocre coffee. Now that I have used the machine, I can easily say it was worth every single penny. It also has a 5-year warranty and replacement parts are readily available (unlike the basics such as a carafe for our previous Kitchen Aid machine). Our grade-schooler will be into coffee-drinking age by the time the basic warranty expires. All to say I think the value for the money is absolutely worth it.
Overall if you are of the mind to buy nice or buy twice (or three, four times) and have high expectations for home-brewed coffee, this is the machine for you. I am very pleased with this purchase.
I have insisted for the last 10 years on a high end coffee maker that brews and keeps the coffee at the proper temperature, so thermal carafe has always been the way to keep the coffee from boiling on a hot plate. This is my third high end machine after buying cheaper high end machines from other brands. I waited until Black Friday and saved over $100 on this model.
I should not have waited 10 years. I always grind fresh beans just before brewing. The design features on this machine are so well thought out:
Carafe - the thermal carafe has a glass interior. Most thermal carafes on these machines have stainless on the inside. The glass is much easier to keep clean.
Controls - nothing fancy here. Good old fashioned rocker switch with a power light. No electronic displays that will fizzle out in a few years. If you really need to set it to brew at a certain hour, buy a plug timer.
Internals - advertised as having copper heating element, which is good. Also, there are water level and carafe position interlocks so you won’t burn out the heating element or brew onto your counter.
Reservoir lid - there is a notch next to the brew arm that allows the reservoir to dry out with the lid on. Brilliant little touch.
Overflow design - I bought the manual stop model to allow for slower flow when brewing a half pot. I once forgot to open it and the coffee overflowed. No worries. The brew basket has an overflow ramp to the carafe so no coffee ends up on the counter. You probably don’t want to drink it though because it will be full of grounds.
Replacement parts - at first I felt some of the many replacement parts felt a little cheap compared to the solidly built main body. But then I realized the availability of relatively cheap parts that are prone to be the first things to break is a good thing. This machine can be kept in service that much longer. I had another brand where the non-detachable plastic lid warped due to the brewing heat and would not fully stay open. A new lid was not sold separately. No such issues here.
Overall very happy with this machine. So far it seems like it will fall into the “buy once, cry once” category. Wait for a sale and it lessens the sting.

This is not an next generation, automated machine. It is a well built, simple machine that meets tight standards for coffee ground hydration and temperature. You can turn it on with everything ready to go and you will have a very decent cup of coffee in the morning. If you spend 3-4 minutes interacting with the process, you get the perfect cup. Love it, love it, love it. If you are a fan of great craftsmanship, consistency and speed (also coffee), pick up this machine if you can afford it.
Let me start with some sore points about the coffee maker:
The plastics are light and cheap. The water container is also plastic due to which it might develop scratches over time.
The thread of the carafe lid is "not so friendly" (this wasn't a problem with Bona vita), will take time to adjust.
The body is aluminum, not really stainless steel.
Seems like the cup size is not standard in between the US and Europe. As 10 cups in Moccamster is equal to 8 cups of water in Bona Vita.
The spoon provided is not an exact measure of perfect coffee. The measure varies depending on the type of coffee, ground size and water.
Now the good part:
After some trial and error, I think I got it right.
Used Organica Zavida coffee from Costco.
I poured 10 cups of water in Moccamaster.
Set the ground level to 3 (from the start) and the number of cups to 8 in my Cuisinart coffee grinder.
Seeped the coffee till the water level in Moccamaster went down to 6 cups (from 10 cups) and released the coffee.
Results: Wow. The coffee had a nice body, tasted a bit buttery and had no bitter undertone. I was amazed, never thought the coffee could taste this good. I never experienced the flavor in Bona Vita. I will keep the machine and try different coffee beans :)
UPDATE AFTER A MONTH: I was only able to get the optimum flavor twice in a month. I upgraded the coffee beans to kicking horse, filtered water and right kind of filter yet the flavor was quite mediocre. I ended up returning the unit and bought the Breville pour over coffee maker. Let's see how it goes.
