Terengganu declares Sunday (Aug 13) a public holiday

PETALING JAYA: The Terengganu government has declared Sunday (Aug 13) a public holiday in conjunction with the six state elections.

Caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said this was to make it easier for those working in Terengganu to return their respective polling areas in Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang.

"This announcement also takes into account the workload of civil servants who will be on duty assisting the Election Commission until late at night on polling day," he said in a statement posted on Facebook on Friday (Aug 11).

He also said he hoped the day off would give convenience and comfort to everyone exercising their democratic rights on Saturday (Aug 12).
