PETALING JAYA: Youths must be able to distinguish between honest leaders and the corrupt, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Ahead of the upcoming six state elections, Anwar told the younger generation to help save Malaysia from dishonest leaders.

According to him, based on reports by the authorities in the last eight months, there have been no cases of corruption involving his Cabinet members.

“Don’t let yourselves be used by others. Why am I telling you to support Anwar? Because we shouldn’t choose a thief to be our leader.

“If I find any ministers or chief ministers (involved in corruption), I will kick them (in) to the Sungai Buloh Prison. Do you know who is ‘Uncle Anwar’ now?

“Taking money here and there is unacceptable. Your salaries and allowances should be enough.

“Old, retired ministers are now talking about the Malays and Islam, but are they willing to give back the money they took?

"Young people, please save Malaysia,” he said during the "Temu Anwar: Selangor X Belia P-Hailing” dialogue here Saturday (July 22).

Commenting on Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s sedition charges, Anwar said the caretaker Kedah mentri besar should have known his limit.

“He should know the right way to handle this. But instead, he did everything openly so now he must take responsibility.

“Why keep blaming me for his (troubles)? It is unfair. I didn’t order the police to arrest him. So now, face the music because of your own doing,” he added.

The six state elections, namely Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negri Sembilan and Selangor, will be held on Aug 12 while nomination is on July 29.
