Dr. John DenBoer is by far the most knowledgeable neuropsychologist I've ever met. His great knowledge of mental diseases and the brain helped me comprehend what was going on inside my head, and that understanding helped me get to a healthier place. He is not only extremely intelligent, but also extremely compassionate. He went above and beyond; his sole motivation is to assist as many people as possible. Even after I stopped visiting him on a regular basis, he was always willing to assist. He is an excellent action taker; when I required accommodations or advice, he made them happen. Dr. John is one of the most wonderful persons I've ever encountered, and I enthusiastically suggest him to anybody seeking help.

I pursued seeing about getting an appointment with John DenBoer for about two months while Healthnet tried to determine whether or not he was in the Ambetter by Healthnet network. One of his staff, Alyssa, is very courteous and helpful, with good follow up. I spent over two hours being evaluated for cognitive issues like attention, immediate and delayed memory recall, and for depression and anxiety. They had several other "patients" there at the same time as me, with a handful of staff. I've never seen so much people shuffling in my life, over and over! "Patients" going into one room for a short period of time, coming out to sit in lobby area, and then into another office area, and so-on and so-forth. Talk about a revolving door circus! John DenBoer was constantly on-the-move hurriedly walking to get each patient to the correct place/spot.

He behaved very flighty, never really engaging fully in the conversation. Kind of spacey, I would say. He was nice enough, dressed professionally, clean cut, but I just felt like I was wasting my time at the end of the visit. I thought he was really getting somewhere when he pinpointed my two main concerns; he told me to come back to work with a speech language pathologist.

His billing employee, Kevin, was supposed to call me to verify if they felt they were in-network so I could make another appointment. I followed up a week or two later, and Kevin has resigned.

I asked him for a copy of the evaluation and his recommendations in writing, ones that I could understand. It was weeks (four) before I received them, and only because I got very annoyed with calling every couple of days. I finally got testy on my voice mail and they called me right back. I had actually phoned ahead, saying I would be there in an hour, to pick this up. They hadn't played my message until after I left. I had asked for the medical report to be sent over to my neurologist for my follow-up visit in two days. It was never sent. I won't be seeing my neurologist for another 6 months to review this.

All in all, I was eager to increase my memory abilities with his practice, but my experience crashed and burned, so to speak. I even filed a grievance with my health insurance because of how they don't respond to requests, return calls, or acknowledge that you even exist.

      Proceed with caution...

I contacted him at the recommendation from Reflections Hospice about my mom who has severe dementia. I needed Dr. John to evaluate my mom. I needed this done quickly due to some paperwork I needed. Dr. John dropped everything and took care of my request. Not only did he take care of it but he explained to me what was needed as far as the paperwork and was most kind. So many doctors are busy and you never seem to have any way of interacting with the doctor, not able to contact the doctor, or you have to deal with a front office worker. Dr. John was like a friend, approachable and honest. I highly recommend him and his office for anything you might need for an aging family member or friend in need of his service. Please check him out, you will not be disappointed!

Very Poor Experience....... this guy walks around like a lost lab rat, then his office manager and he misrepresented themselves first by stating clearly they handle my type of case then the Doctor had me go through nearly a thousand questions and several hours of testing, and told me to come back the next week to see weather or not he could help me.... I guess I wasn't that round peg he was looking for what an OCD case this one is.... He then re-stated his reason for having me return as though it was just to review the test results.... What a Waste of Time... looks like he is looking for test subjects for a thesis, not to care for patients as he was trained
