State polls: I forgave those who mistreated me to set a good example, says Anwar

ALOR SETAR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he has forgiven everyone who has ever mistreated him and his family because he is now the nation's leader and has to set a good example.

The Prime Minister said he had accepted the dark period in his life as fate, adding that he did not want to harp on about it.

"Many things have been said about me, did I say anything back? They accused me of doing a lot of things but enough is enough, I forgave them all a long time ago," he said during the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani campaign at Kuala Nerang here on Friday (Aug 11).

However, he said that he would not forgive those who stole money or rare earth elements from the people, adding that he would "find them".

Anwar said it was hard for the people to earn even RM100 now but there were leaders who want "easy money".

He also slammed those who used religion in politics.

"You slander people and use religion and create your own 'fatwa' for yourself," he said.

During the ceramah, Anwar urged the people in Kedah to give a chance to the unity pact so the new state government would be aligned with Putrajaya.

Anwar is expected to be in Hutan Kampung and Gurun later Friday night before going to Sungai Petani for the grand finale.

Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor and Negri Sembilan will have state elections on Saturday (Aug 12).
