How do you use AI? Here is my “2-tool wAy”.

Nowadays I get flooded with lists of AI-tools and how cool it is to use them. At first I thought the lists are excellent, so many cool tools that might be helpful for me.

Unfortunately, all of these lists of AI-tools have two big problems:

  1. There are too many tools. Estimates are that approx. 1000 new ones are published … EVERY DAY!
  2. The good tools very quickly become replaced by even better tools. Nowadays that is VERY quickly.
  3. That makes it tedious to go through these lists. I no longer do that.

Because all you need are two tools: Perplexity and ChatGPT.

What? Only 2 tools? How is that?

Well, for ANY information you just need to ask Perplexity. Perplexity has access to the internet and compiles a single answer to your question. Moreover, this single answer is sourced with the websites that answer is based on. You ask for example “What cool new AI-tools are currently state-of-the-art to remove my ex from my favorite photo? And which of these tools are as cheap and easy to use as possible (because my ex is not worth more)?”. This works for ANY question, also for learning coding from zero in 2hrs.*

See: With Perplexity you need no more lists of cool AI-tools.

The second tool is of course ChatGPT. But you only use ChatGPT for production. Production of text, of code and, most interesting of all, for production of ideas. For this, ChatGPT is excellent.

I cannot use ChatGPT for retrieval of information - unfortunately. Because of the hallucination problem of ChatGPT I never know whether the answer ChatGPT gives is really correct. So for information retrieval you use Perplexity, for production you use ChatGPT. Because ChatGPTs hallucination doesn’t matter for production of text or for brainstorming.

Hey, actually, for brainstorming, hallucinating might be perfect! 😉

So, bottom line is: No more lists.

All you need is

To use AI: the “2 tools wAy”.

*PS.: Is hallucinating good for coding? Well, if you are interested in my 2hrs workshop “From Zero to Coding”, just stay tuned! BTW, this workshop also just used the "2 tools wAy"... ;-)
