Many of us are fed up with living tied to internet service providers with cumbersome contracts and low speeds, restrictive terms, rising fees, and other restrictions. We are usually left with few choices.

Could 5G home internet be the solution? Our home broadband needs are being addressed by the same technology that powers our latest phones. Starry, T-Mobile, and Verizon offer the earliest 5G home internet plans at an affordable price. However, only a few cities and areas are eligible for them. Let's assume how it operates and what it costs.

Question: What do you know about Verizon's 5G home internet service and T-Mobile?

ANSWER The 5G launch team told us that a "fixed wireless service" might one day replace traditional phone or cable company Internet services. Although there were only a few initial tests, Verizon and T-Mobile have promoted their fixed wireless service across the country.

It may be a good choice for the people of rural areas.

Fixed Wireless vs. Wired  Internet Service

Traditional internet service required physical infrastructures, such as phone lines or cable lines buried beneath the ground. Access to your home was only possible with one provider. It's not financially smart to spend money on infrastructure if there aren't enough houses or another provider. Many homes are forced to choose their internet provider.

Fixed wireless is a better option than burying lines in the ground, as it uses the same cellular network as our smartphones. Like our smartphones, the potency of either carrier's signal relies on where you live. Fixed wireless has another advantage: it doesn't need a technician to establish the connection. Regardless, you will require to stretch the linkage in various locations near your house to fetch the best results.

Verizon vs. T-Mobile

Both companies offer 5G home services, but their technology differs. Verizon uses high-band frequencies (millimeter waves), which deliver the fastest 5G speeds. However, physical obstacles such as trees and buildings can slow their speed. T-Mobile utilizes a variety of low- and mid-band commonnesses. It allows for better penetration of obstructions but at a slower speed.

You can generally expect faster speeds from Verizon if you can set up the service in your home. The faster speeds are important for gamers and video streamers, but not for people who surf the internet and check their email.

Fixed Wireless Disadvantages

Anybody who keeps ever utilizing a mobile phone understands that the service can be intermittently unreliable, making it difficult to view a movie or watch live sports events. Mobile users may also be affected by high network congestion. It is specifically genuine if the area you live in is densely occupied. Fixed wireless connections will have a higher latency, making them ideal for demanding gamers.

Do I require a new mobile phone for this 5G service?

It depends on when your last upgrade was. Although the number of phones certified to work with Verizon's 5G mid-band network is small, it does include a few popular models. For example, people who purchased an iPhone 12 or 13 can switch carriers. It is also true for Samsung's flagship Galaxy S21 phones or its latest foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip3 or Galaxy Z Fold3.

This type of 5G is technically supported by Google's Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones, but there is a catch.AT&T has approved the phones for the latest 5G rollout. Customers will see faster data speeds in the few cities with the service. Verizon has not yet certified these devices, so customers who have them will not see any improvements in network speed or performance.

Sorry if your phone isn't on this list. You'll likely need a new phone to access these updated 5G networks. These network improvements will probably be available on all new phones, even though they won't come as an option for everyone. You might still need to adjust your phone plan to make the most of 5G.

You don't have to change or pay more if you have already signed up for a 5G compatible plan in the past. If you haven't looked over your goals in a while, check your carrier's website for any new options. Costs can rely on the numeral of lines on your budget. Make sure to compare what your plan and bill look like with these companies.
