Project Liverbird success in the Ministry of Defence
Santuary Awards
The Sanctuary Awards recognise outstanding sustainability and conservation efforts across the MOD. The recent winner of the first Innovation award was Project Liverbird; which involved installing energy efficient and renewal energy generation equipment at HMS Eaglet; a maritime reserves training hub in Liverpool. Congratulations to all involved.
We have seen the number of national Armed Forces Covenant signings reach 10,046 with 1040 in the North West. John Lewis became the 10,000th signing in March 2023.

Cumbria Army Cadet Force news
Cumbria Army Cadet Force have had a successful visit of Antigua and Barbuda National Cadet Corps. The visit is part of an exchange programme between the Cadet Forces. The cadets have had an action packed 10 days of fieldcraft training, drill and visits to the Dock Museum in Barrow and to Edinburgh Castle.
The Ulysses Trust support to North West Cadets and Reserves
The Ulysses Trust Annual Review 2022 is out now. Last year, they supported 6 expeditions for Reserves and Cadets in the North West involving 154 participants via grants of £22,850. From Sea Cadet adventure training in Anglesey to 156 Reservists climbing Mount Kenya, find out more.
Battle of the Atlantic commemorative weekend
A three-day event will take place in Liverpool from 26 – 28 May 2023 mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic, bringing together partners from across the city region and beyond.
