KUALA LUMPUR: This year's Malaysia Day will see the Kelana Jaya LRT line coach "coloured" with stories about Malaysia, says Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

Themed "Cerita Malaysiaku" (My Malaysian Story), the train coach features various stories about what it meant to be a Malaysian.

According to Fahmi, the Kelana Jaya line train was chosen for the programme as it carries the most passengers daily, up to 250,000 people.

"The Cerita Malaysiaku initiative is done to show our appreciation to the country as well as to share facts and information about Malaysia so that it will stay in our minds.

"This initiative aligns with our efforts to show our love for the country. I hope more train coaches will be coloured with such designs in the future," he told reporters when launching the Rapid KL's "Cerita Malaysiaku" special coach programme at the KLCC LRT station here on Wednesday (Sept 13).

The special coach carries stories about Malaysian traditional foods, proverbs, games and celebrations.

At the same time, it was also "coloured" with facts about the Rukun Negara, the Malaysian Anthem, as well as the country's most famous flowers - the hibiscus and Rafflesia.

Commuters who take the special coach would also be entertained with various popular local songs and photos of iconic places in Malaysia, such as Mount Kinabalu, A'Famosa and the Penang Bridge.

The programme was an initiative by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad and Rapid Rail as the Klang Valley's main rail operator.

Fahmi said the special coach starts taking passengers on Wednesday (Sept 13) from the Universiti Station to the KLCC Station, adding that he hoped other private firms would collaborate with Prasarana for such an initiative.

"I welcome the cooperation of the private sector in such an initiative because we need this kind of synergy to fuel the love for the country," he added.
