The Squashing Hunger Championship is a fun, interactive fundraising challenge which will help us feed our neighbors. This campaign, which will run from August 2-15, is a peer-to-peer fundraiser, which means that we need your help to make this a success! Peer-to-peer fundraising engages our most loyal supporters, who become fundraising champions and create individual fundraisers which they share with their friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors. Becoming a peer-to-peer fundraising champion is a wonderful way to share with your loved ones why the Community Soup Kitchen and its mission are so important to you!

When you support the Community Soup Kitchen, you support equitable food access for your downtown New Haven neighbors. We are dedicated to providing for the essential needs of our community, and we have risen to the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic without slowing down our service. Despite heightened food and supply costs, we are serving more meals than ever before, and are committed to continuing all of our scheduled weekly meals. Your support goes directly to keeping the soup kitchen running and getting healthy, delicious food into our community.


To encourage our fundraising champions, we are offering prizes donated by our generous community partners. There will be prizes for the fundraiser who raises the most money overall, who engages the most donors, who has the funniest fundraising profile, and many other prizes. Most of our prizes will take the form of gift cards and product samples from local businesses, and we will be sharing more information about prizes as the event gets closer. For those who are new to peer-to-peer fundraising, or want to learn more about this fundraiser, we are hosting two fundraising workshops on July 22 at 2:30 pm and July 29 at 7 pm. These workshops are completely optional, but we would love to see you there. The information for the Zoom meetings can be found below.
