KLANG: The win for Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional in Selangor is significant as it shows that the unity forged recently managed to halt the green wave, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

"It is a win for the rakyat of Selangor who chose stability and prosperity," he said at a press conference at Wyndham Acmar Hotel on Saturday (Aug 12) night.

He said that the incoming state government would be fair to all and fulfil its electoral promises to voters who gave them the mandate to administer the state.

Based on the initial tally by Election Commission (EC), he said that Pakatan-Barisan secured 29 seats out of 56 contested, enough to form the state government.

"Based on our calculations, we secured a total of 34 seats.

"We will wait for the official announcement by the EC and their notice on the formation of the government before meeting with the Sultan of Selangor," he said.

Asked if Monday would be declared a holiday in Selangor, Amirudin said: "Certainly".

On the dispute involving the Sungai Kandis state seat, he said that it would be left to the party's legal team to handle.

A protest erupted after Perikatan candidate Wan Dzahanurin Ahmad won the seat by 167 votes, which was disputed by Pakatan candidate Ustaz Zawawi Mughni.
