VMC Teen Application 2021
Please complete this form if you're applying for VOX Media Cafe 2021. The only program of its kind in metro Atlanta, VOX Media Café offers a unique hands-on opportunity for teens to explore multimedia techniques for storytelling, while learning about the fundamentals of journalism and creating a tangible multimedia product.

This is a VIRTUAL Program:  While we would love to meet all of you in person, our priority is to guarantee the safety of both our participants and staff members. To that end, VOX will proceed with 3 FREE virtual two-week sessions that will encompass a modified version of our in-person VMC curriculum.

What This Looks Like:
Participants will meet three times a week in the virtual space (on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. for a formal half-day session. *A wifi connection with a laptop/tablet or a smartphone with web camera capabilities will be integral to participation in this program.

There will be optional afternoon skill-building sessions from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Participants will still have the opportunity to build multimedia and journalism skills from the safety of their own homes, with support from our in-house journalists and volunteers.

We will be making use of platforms such as Zoom and GroupMe to make this happen, as we have been doing with our school year programming for the last year to much success.

At this time, we are weighing the option of having some small in-person gatherings in our downtown Atlanta office for certain components of the program, but if we do so these will be optional.

We ask that all participants submit a $25 deposit upon acceptance into the program to reserve their space. The deposit will be returned once the participant has started the program.

Please note : Each 2 week session runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with an optional afternoon session from 2-3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The program structure for session 1 and session 2 are the same. Some work may be required outside of those hours for successful publication. Participants are expected to participate for the ENTIRE two weeks. If there is a scheduling conflict, we ask that it is communicated well in advance.
