Audi A2 Concept canceled to be mass produced

Audi, one of the German luxury car manufacturer to make sure that in the future they will be seriously working on the car which oriented to transport a family. In this case, Audi would prefer to enter the SUV and crossover segment.

After briefly showing the figure of the A2 Concept car, which went into the minivan segment, Audi finally decided not to produce it. In addition, the luxury sports car manufacturer was also denied the opportunity to work on the car segment which dominated by Mercedes-Benz B class and BMW 2-Series Active Tourer.

Audi A2 concept car introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011. Speculation immediately burst, and stated that the original A2 successor being developed in Ingolstadt. Currently, rumors indicate that the second generation of the A2 will be offered in a choice of engine capacity is derived, namely petrol and diesel engines with the components sourced from Volkswagen, in addition to machines that use electric motors.

Audi put A2 in a floating position for several years, and finally decided that the minivan concept car will not be produced. Audi's Head of Development Department, Ulrich Hackenberg stated that Volkswagen has many minivan variants which proved to be very successful. However, the character of the Audi has not led to it. German luxury car manufacturer was not able to enter the favorite business, for the models with low volume.

Audi's consideration did not produce A2 because a family car segment in Europe has declined over the past few years, and get a concussion in the US market. In addition, the A2 is also considered too small to the American people taste. That's what makes the Audi is now beginning to focus on work the segments of SUV and crossover, because it is believed to offer the high level of market conquest.
Leaving the Audi A2 Concept car, Ingolstadt-based car manufacturer wants to introducing an entry-level crossover labeled, Q1 at the next Frankfurt Motor Show. Meanwhile, Audi is currently also being in the early stages of the development of the SUV, which all use electric drive and called the Q6.
