Leicester diners can now experience the flavours of Mexico and America following the opening of new city centre restaurant Burgers and Taco. The new eatery in Abbey Street has been launched by friends who say they were inspired while on their travels.

They are aiming to offer an authentic taste of Mexico and America, with a "mouth-watering menu" made using fresh ingredients and bold spices. Burgers include a crispy chicken burger, veg burger and a signature birria burger - made with slow cooked pulled beef or chicken in a soft bun with pickled onions, cilantro, crispy grilled cheese and house sauce.

There's also a classic smash burger on the menu, as well as a tortilla smash burger for those who fancy something a little different. You'll get two flour tortillas filled with smashed beef patties, grated cheese, lettuce, pickled onions, jalapenos and topped with in-house special sauce.

Tacos are available filled with beef, chicken, prawn and mushroom, and you can also get Mexican rice bowls, quesadilla and nachos. Also on offer is birria ramen, which is beef or chicken mixed with ramen noodles in a rich broth.

There is a kids menu, with baby birria taco, baby loaded fries and classic smash burger on offer. Desserts at Burgers and taco include churros and French toast, and drinks include milkshakes, mocktails and Jarritos Mexican soft drinks.

Churros at Burgers and Taco

Burgers and Taco is operating from the ground floor of 43 Abbey Street. The ground floor operates as La Maison during the daytime, and then from 5pm until 11pm, it is Burgers and Taco - which also has a separate entrance in Garden Street.

According to the team behind the eatery, they aim to offer the perfect casual dine-in experience or takeaway, whether you're going along with your family or group of friends, and whether it's a special occasion or just a weekend treat.
