KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested three suspects believed to be involved in robbing a handphone seller here with a ball-bearing air gun.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the victim was in contact with one of the suspects via social media regarding the sale of two phones.

"They agreed to meet on May 30 in Kampung Baru at 11.30pm.

“At the meeting, the victim came with two friends.

"(The victim handed over the phones) but when payment was asked for, (the suspect aimed) an object that resembled a gun at the group,” he told a press conference at district headquarters here on Friday (June 2).

ACP Noor Dellhan said the suspect then made off with the phones, with the seller's losses estimated to be between RM5,000 and RM6,000.

The suspect fled the scene with another person who was waiting on a motorcycle, he added.

“A report was lodged at 4.58am on May 31 and a police team launched an operation to trace the suspects.

"Within 24 hours, three suspects were arrested - two in a house in Hulu Langat and the third in Skudai, Johor.

"The suspect in Johor had been hiding in a relative’s house,” he said.

ACP Noor Dellhan said two of the suspects had records for criminal offences, and police also seized the ball-bearing gun believed to have been used in the robbery.

“It is believed that it was purchased online two days before the robbery,” he added.

All three suspects, aged between 24 and 26, have been remanded until Monday (June 5).
