Job Title: Communications Intern

Department: External Affairs

Position Description: The intern will assist the unit with media relations, communications (including internal) and some digital projects.

Duties/Requirements: The intern will have strong written and oral communications skills, with the ability to assist in juggling multiple projects while managing independent projects from start to finish. The intern will have the ability to meet deadlines, often with quick turnaround times. The intern will be detail-oriented and have an interest in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and criminal justice reform.  The intern will possess strong interpersonal and research skills. The intern will have an appetite for news. Projects will vary in scope including but not limited to external affairs and digital communications projects, including data-entry, research and maintenance of information. Other duties as assigned.

Working Environment and Reporting Structure:  The External Affairs Unit oversees the communications for the Cook County State’s Attorney office.  

Minimum Qualifications:  Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate school program with a preference for degrees majoring in communications or journalism, public policy, marketing or law. The intern must have excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate with the individuals in the unit and accept feedback.  The intern must be highly motivated and reliable. Must uphold the mission, vision, and values of the Office at all times.
