- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 June 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis is the second book by this author I have read. It took me a while to post this review as I wanted to put some practices in place first.
1. Clear precise outlay.
2. Recaps at the end of the chapters
3. Step by step instructions for interventions
4. Bonus content with resources qr code. Appreciated.
What I also liked about this book is the list of phobias as a nurse I found this of interest and learnt many more.
I generally buy my self-help books as audio and hard copy. This is to listen and read it at the same time. Putting the information deeper.
I also high light and put footnotes of where the interventions were in various pages so I can reflect and return to that section and do the actual intervention with the audio alone which I found easier than going back to the book. So having both makes for useful tools.
I used tha tapping technique with my child.
Thanks for a comprehensive book that does provide steps to conquer my anxiety and fears.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 May 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis book really blew me away. Its like a year of therapy in one read. Im not a great lover of the “self help” genre so i was surprised how insightful it was from the beginning- each chapter was describing me in some way so accurately and i didn’t think my issues could be so easily taken apart & understood. Every time i thought something might not be covered- bam there it was explained. Christopher Paul jones is clearly a master at his craft. The 7 steps take you through a process to understand and transform whats underneath your fears and anxieties in a way that almost seems so simple & obvious after you get there its hard to believe youve not known it before. A truly transformative read that has liberated and transformed me.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 January 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI don’t normally go for self-help books. But I thought this was worth a shot, I’d seen him on the One Show.
It’s helped me understand my phobia and to think about it differently. It has some good tips on changing the patterns. It’s early days and I need to practice but already I’m feeling less anxious just thinking about them.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 February 2024Format: PaperbackAfter suffering multiple phobias for many years I decided to invest in Face your Fears as I’ve followed the author for quite a while and I’m a huge fan of his work. I was sceptical at first as I’m not a learner who can read something and implement it without the help of a teacher but with an impending holiday I took my chances.
The book is very clearly written and has some amazing techniques that can really help you change your perspective on things. I decided today to try and overcome one of my fears which is walking over a motorway bridge. I remembered 2 of the techniques that Chris had spoken about and sort of combined them in my own way. To my amazement I went over the bridge without a single thought about my phobia. I’m fact I walked back over it because I was so proud of myself. I’ve still a way to go as my biggest phobia is flying and I’ve a holiday booked later on in the year but I’m quite positive I’m going to be okay.
I can’t thank this book enough and if anyone is wondering if you should invest in a copy I’m going to say ‘go for it’ it’s a great read and very insightful.

5.0 out of 5 stars 100% hack your phobias
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI loved this book.
Really well written, informative in a simple and knowledgeable way.
English is not my first language and I found no problem in fully understand it.
The author has a nice sense of humour and even while reading the book makes you feel at ease, almost if he was for real beside you guiding you.
Full of hacks and exercises to help you free from your fears.
Comprehensive and easy to navigate help you to find the route of your problem and work on it.
The first section of the book tells why and how we develop phobias, the second how to get rid of them.
The exercises are well explained and simple to follow.
For Example mind and body relaxation exercises are incredibly helpful and I keep using them in my daily life.
Last part speaks of all different type of phobias, and wow, made me feel that I am not alone and there is so many types of phobias.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and elegant yet thorough and powerful
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseAs someone who also helps clients release fears and phobias, I'm extremely impressed with this simple yet powerful book.
This is probably the best explanation of how these things come to be - and what's happening in the brain and nervous system when they do - that I've ever seen.
The steps to relieving your fear and anxiety are also clearly laid out for you. They're streamlined and elegant, yet thorough and easy to follow.
Whether you're trying to eliminate what's keeping your stuck - or you're a neurology nerd like me - I highly recommend this book.
