In the thirty minute class, we'll explore beginning general musical concepts such as steady beat, dynamics, tempo, using our singing voices, and using songs to tell a story as we explore songs about kitty cats.
Class experience
Using both new and familiar songs about kitty cats, we will work together to explore our singing voices, including some vocal exploration, use music to tell a story, move and sing to the steady beat, explore dynamics (how loud or soft a song is) and tempo (how fast or slow), and work together to compose our own song about kitty cats. Students will be able to differentiate between their singing, speaking, calling, and whisper voices. Students will be able to keep the steady beat both using both small movements such as clapping and tapping and full-body movements. Students will be able to demonstrate singing loudly and quietly, quickly and slowly. Students will work collaboratively to write a song about cats.
Please feel free to bring a stuffed kitty along to help us sing. Pet cats are free to make an appearance at the end of class.
