We are excited for another year of The Education Collaborative’s June Convening. At this year’s Convening, we will be consolidating learnings as we mark the climax to a three-year running theme, “Building the capacity of institutions to improve African higher-ed outcomes.” Since 2020, institutions and partners in the network have designed, shared, and implemented innovations and models around entrepreneurship, ethics and leadership, employability, and faculty development. We cannot wait for you to join us in Accra from 13 – 16 June 2023 as we learn from the outcomes and experiences, and share innovations and best practices in the higher-ed sector.

Track theme: Career Development Approaches for Systems Change
The Career and Employability track will review progress and outcomes on current and past career and employability projects facilitated by The Collaborative, and discuss market trends vis-a-vis challenges and successes within these projects and project areas for future development.
Education Collaborative’s broader goal for career and employability is for member institutions to be well-equipped to train and provide students with the competencies, knowledge, and resources to prepare graduates and transition them smoothly into successful careers.

Track theme: Explore, Expand, and Entrench Entrepreneurship within/in African HEIs.
The Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development track will review progress and outcomes on current and past employability projects facilitated by The Collaborative, discuss market trends vis-a-vis challenges and successes within these projects and project areas for future development.
This track aims to encourage African HEIs to explore new opportunities, some of which have been presented at previous June convenings through various projects/grants, expand their entrepreneurship programs, and entrench a culture of entrepreneurship within the institutions.
The Education Collaborative’s broader goal for Entrepreneurship development is for members to possess the tools and know-how to create and sustain a range of institutional and infrastructural support systems that nurture creative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit in students to solve problems.

Track theme: Entrenching Ethics and Leadership through Experiential Education
This track reviews innovative models that have been tested (or are in the process of being tested) in teaching leadership and ethics in Africa by consortium partners in the last three years.
It will also discuss market trends vis-a-vis challenges and successes within these projects and discuss project areas for future development.
Education Collaborative’s broader goal for Ethics and Leadership is for member institutions to build systems and cultures that empower individuals and the community for ethical action, empathy, teamwork, leadership and influence.

This track will review progress and outcomes on research projects facilitated by The Collaborative and launch programs within Faculty Development.
Education Collaborative’s broader goal for Faculty Development and Research is to promote the development and enhancement of transformative and innovative pedagogical practices through collaborative peer learning and training to improve the quality of teaching.

Engage seasoned leaders at the Stakeholder Symposium
The Higher Education Stakeholders Symposium is an invite-only forum at the June Convening for engaging the broader stakeholders of Africa’s higher education sector on focal areas identified by exemplary higher-ed institutions as central to transformation.
Participants at the Symposium include executive leaders, faculty, and administrators of higher education, regulators, policy makers, industry, and professionals from development agencies.
