Kathmandu, October 29
Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja Magar says he has successfully made it to the summit of Mount Sishapangama, completing his ‘mission’ to summit all 14 8,000 metre plus mountains in 190 days.
The man from Myadi, who is also a former UK Special Force member, summited Shishapangma in the early hours of Tuesday morning according to his Twitter account.
He summited the mountain with his team members Minmga David Sherpa, Galjen Sherpa and Gesman Taang.
Magar kick-started his ‘project’ by climbing Annapurna on April 23. In his first phase, Magar reached the top of Mount Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Kanchenjunga, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu in 31 days.
In his second phase, he then summited Broad Peak, Mount K2, Gasherbrum II, Gasherbrum I and Nanga Parbat in 23 days. In his final phase, Magar summited Mount Cho Oyu, Mount Manaslu and Mount Shishapangama.
Through the project Magar wants to deliver a message of hope to the people of the world that any thing is possible. He also said he wanted to do this project to show people that climate change was real.
