I have economic #privilege, I have studied, I have #access to jobs, and I speak English fluently.  And yet, parts of my #identity feel victimized.  As a child, when my family and I would go looking for houses to rent in #mumbai, people said they won’t give us this place because we’re #muslim. This is true of 2022 as well.  Earlier this year the hashtag “indianmuslimgenocide” had been trending on Twitter. The increasing violence against Muslims in #india has put a fear in my mind, in my body.  If I say what I want to say, what is going to be at stake? Am I going to get attacked for this? Will I be judged before I'm heard? Expressing my #voice requires more and more #courage, even if it’s just something as simple as putting a tweet out there.  Systemic injustice isn’t something that happens just on the outside. It has a profound impact on our inside.  In this interview with Eva Keiffenheim from Big Change at Salzburg Global Seminar, we explore why redesigning education systems can’t happen without changing ourselves. We look at education through a lens of system transformation and the three drivers for change: purpose, power, and practice. A warm thank you to all the new friends I made at Salzburg Global Seminar. The first conference after the pandemic and it was a lovely, meaningful way to come back to the physical world.
