Indigenous Cultural Evening Programs

To assist with Indigenous Cultural evening programming.  We are looking for energetic, creative, volunteers who are able to help with crafts.  This is a physical position where you will be required to be on your feet for the majority of the shift.   Food handler certificate is an asset.  Ability to lift 50 lbs is an asset. 

The schedule for this role is Monday Movie Nights, Tuesday Bingo, Wednesday Beading, Thursday Indigenous Program and Cooking class.  You may volunteer for one or multiple shifts a week.

Washroom/Shower Attendant

Sign up guests to use shower facilities, provide towels and needed supplies.  Monitor times to ensure orderly and timely use of facility and ensure shower is clean for next guest.  Sanitize shower and Washrooms after each guest and refill supplies.  Support staff and volunteers by assisting with other drop-in duties as needed.

Laundry and Donation Room Assistant

Organize and maintain donation room including sorting, laundering and organizing donated clothing, organizing donated toiletries.  Report required items such as clothing, deodorant, etc. Update list of items distributed to guests.  Support staff and volunteers by assisting with other drop-in duties as needed.

Pantry Organization Assistant

Sort and organize pantry and fridge items at the direction of the Food Manager.  Report food related items that seem to be low in stock to teh Food Manager.  Cleaning noted areas.  Support staff and volunteers by assisting with other drop-in duties as needed.

Community Builder (Drop in) Volunteer

Work with staff and volunteers to ensure that Oak Table  can be open and ready to support our guest needs.  Work with other staff and volunteers to ensure that Oak Table site is safe and welcoming for a diverse group of community members.  Assist with site programming as needed, including food distribution, laundry, and clean up.

Dishwasher and Clean Up (Lunch)

This position assists the Food Manager by completing dishes and cleaning up.  Dishes include rinsing, hand washing large items, loading and loading dishwashers and putting items away.  This position does require extended periods of standing and bending.  You may also be assigned other tasks as required to assist drop in including food prep, putting pantry items away, etc.  therefore, the ability to lift 50 lbs is an asset.

Technical/IT  Support

This volunteer may visit all sites to help with technical issues.  They may assist with printer issues, network issues, and other computer issues.  This will include hardware and software issues such as resetting laptops or Chromebooks, assistance with updates to software  and printer malfunctions.
