In this 1-time class for ages 3 - 7, children will listen to the simple story of Mother Earth's colorful blanket and then "weave" their own blanket from paper. Learners will also begin a twig weaving which they can then finish on their own.
Class experience
Using Waldorf-inspired props and storytelling techniques, Ms. Annette will tell the autumnal story of Mother Earth's Colorful Blanket. After the story, we will sing a song or two and will also begin to "weave" our own paper blanket. Additionally, learners will be asked to bring a forked stick and some yarn to start a weaving that can be continued when they are out and about in nature. Learners will listen to, participate in telling, comprehend, and be able to retell a simple story about Mother Earth in Autumn. Learners will come prepared to create a colorful paper weaving that represents Mother Earth's colorful blanket. Learners will prepare a weaving stick that they can later use to decorate with outdoor items from nature.
Homework Offered
Please come with prepared and pre-cut materials. The weaving twig will be started in class, but weaving in materials from nature will happen after class is over.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

1 file available upon enrollment* a sheet of construction paper or an old watercolor painting with slits cut into it for weaving, * strips of paper in autumnal colors for weaving, cut in strips about 3/4" wide. They can be trimmed to fit the paper. * a forked "y-shaped" twig and some yarn
Parents will be asked to precut paper for weaving.
