eRevMax releases Q2 Hotel Sentiment results for European accommodation providers

  • London, 2 June 2021

Report shows optimism and positive outlook within the hospitality sector

Hotel Occupancy

European hoteliers are showing a sense of optimism for the first time since Q1 2020, as reflected in eRevMax’s recently conducted survey. The hotel technology provider has published a report titled, Europe Hotel Outlook - Q2 2021, based on the findings from a survey conducted with hotels in the region. According to the survey responses, fifteen months after the pandemic, bookings are finally on the upward trajectory.

eRevMax has been carrying out regular surveys to monitor sentiment and help shed light on how hoteliers are reacting to the COVID-19 crisis. The latest survey was conducted in April - May 2021.

According to the survey findings, occupancy has improved more in the luxury and BnB segment than in midscale and budget. While occupancy and revenue remain the top priority for hoteliers, 40% of them feel they would be able to go back to pre-pandemic business level within a year.

"Through these surveys, we are looking to understand the views of European hoteliers on business outlook, their plans, and concerns, as recovery begins. Our goal is simply to provide a reference point to the community amidst one of the most unpredictable situations we have ever faced."

Udai Singh Solanki

MD and Co-CEO, eRevMax

As travel demand continues to be lower than pre-pandemic levels, the survey responses show a slow and steady rebound for the hotel industry in Europe, which is expected to accelerate later this year. This report also includes hoteliers’ responses on booking sources, distribution mix, challenges, expected recovery timelines as well as technology priority.
