SAN ANTONIO - One of San Antonio's longest running charitable organizations is reaching it out to the public that they are here to help those who have been laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, South West Texas (SVdP) said during this critical situation, they are committed to keeping their sites open to serve those in need. In fact, SVdP helps more than 8000 at-risk families with food, clothing, rent, and utility services each year.

And with 59 locations, SVdP has the largest community reach of all charitable organizations in the area with more than 2000 volunteers.

"We've experienced a spike in people coming to us for assistance during previous natural disaster crisis events and are anticipating the same due to economic hardship from COVID-19," Valerie Finley, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Southwest, Executive Director, said. "To ensure we have the resources to help more at-risk families and individuals avoid hunger and homelessness during this crisis situation we're asking the community to consider St. Vincent de Paul with their giving."
