Intel’s Raptor Lake Refresh: A New Roar on the Horizon

What might be the full lineup of Intel 14th Gen Core series been exposed by hardware leaker “YuuKi_AnS”.

Later this month, Intel is set to unveil its latest desktop processor lineup, known as the 14th Gen Core or Raptor Lake Refresh series. As the name implies, this release represents a refresh of existing models, with certain alterations made to frequencies and core counts in a limited number of cases.

Although the list of models may not yet be complete, it does indicate Intel’s extensive plans for its new desktop offerings. As it stands, the number of planned SKUs may exceed 27 models.

Intel 14th Gen Core Series:

  • 1x KS-Series (150W Unlocked Special Edition)
  • 3x K-Series (125W Unlocked)
  • 3x KF-Series (125W Unlocked & Lacking iGPU)
  • 7x non-K Series (65-46W)
  • 4x F-Series (65W & Lacking iGPU)
  • 7x T-Series (35W)

If these specifications prove accurate, Intel’s next lineup will offer processors ranging from 2 to 24 cores. It begins with the Intel 300 CPU, featuring a dual-core configuration and a 46W TDP, but lacking boost capability. The lineup is further supplemented by the quad-core Core i3 series, with 14100 SKUs also reportedly lacking boost support.

Moving up to the Core i5 tier, gamers can expect configurations with either 6P+4E or 6P+8E. The leaker suggests that current Qualification Samples (QS) exhibit various configurations, such as the Core i5-14400, which can feature either 10 or 14 core specifications. It remains uncertain which specifications Intel will ultimately adopt for the final lineup.

All of these SKUs will support both DDR4 and DDR5 memory. However, it is reasonable to assume that motherboard manufacturers and prebuilt system integrators will primarily focus on DDR5 memory for this generation, reserving DDR4 options for the 12th and 13th Gen SKUs that will remain on the market for some time. The pricing for DDR5 memory has been noticeably lower over the past year.

It’s worth noting that rumors about potential DDR5-6400 JEDEC memory support in the new series have not been confirmed. Instead, the upcoming 14th Gen Core lineup will default to the same 5600 MT/s speed, but it will naturally support much faster memory through overclocking.

As anticipated, Intel is expected to unveil this new series on September 19th at the Innovation event. However, this date marks the introduction of the 14th Gen K and KF models, while the non-K and T-series are set to launch early next year. Typically, Intel announces these series at CES in January. If the rumors hold true, the i9-14900KS model may also make its appearance later, possibly in late Q1, following the pattern set by the 13900KS. This special edition could boast a boost clock of up to 6.2 GHz, making it Intel’s fastest mainstream desktop CPU. It’s worth noting that this particular SKU would require a default TDP of 150W.
