Editorial Reviews

Review

To know Tyler Staton is to encounter a man who is consumed by what it means to live like Jesus. And of course it is inconceivable to live like Jesus without doing what he spent so much of his time doing, which is prayer. Tyler has both given himself to this life-giving practice and provided us with a compelling vision for prayer in the life of the Christ follower. I emerged from this book with my heart stirred to talk to God more. Dr. Bryan Loritts, author of Saving the Saved

Tyler Staton is one of America's most inspiring and gifted prayer leaders today, and his brilliant new book flows from the deepest place of his own personal life. At times it feels like holy ground. I particularly appreciated the practical exercises at the end of each chapter, as well as the closing section about the lost art of praying for the lost. Tyler serves up the full menu of prayer--from deep contemplative practices to teaching about the power and necessity of intercessory prayer. There's something here for everyone. It's both an on-ramp for those new to faith who are seeking to grow in a conversational relationship with the Lord and a master class for Christians who are seeking to be stretched and inspired. This book is a vital invitation into the highest calling of every person on the planet, flowing straight from the heart of a contemporary prayer warrior, a respected pastor, and a dear friend. Pete Greig, founder of 24-7 Prayer International and senior pastor of Emmaus Road Church

First let me say, I am a practicing Catholic. I ordered this book as my prayer life was getting dry and needed an "upgrade". This beautifully written book provides inspiration, along with descriptions of the various types of prayer and practical ways to apply them to your life. The author's personal stories are instrumental in getting his point across and helping us to relate the information to our own lives.Exactly what I needed in my journey.......I am sure I will be reading it (and putting it into practice) several times over.(This image was in the book (black and white photo); I happened to pick up this plaque in a thrift shop not realizing this was the Trinity and such a famous icon.)

I have never read a book so "slowly" in my entire life. My slow reading is intentional. Each sentence and paragraph are rich. Not a difficult book to read. Just meaningful. You want it to sink in. You want to meditate and dwell on the words.

It was a gift to me from a friend. I ended up giving it to another friend before I even finished it, because I knew it would be a life preserver, so to speak. I ordered two more the next day, because I want to finish it, and I know the time will come when someone else will come across my path. Enjoy this beautiful and helpful book.

I am grateful for the depth of this book and its author. When it ended, I exclaimed ‘nooo’ because I thought there were more meaty chapters left to digest. Very encouraging and heartfelt. I appreciate the heart of this book. I pray that I will continue to increase my prayer life with God and grow in intimacy and knowledge of Him.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book that I had a hard time putting down!

Such a thought provoking book. I was so moved and had to stop to really soak in all the truths.
I found myself journalling and really just allowing Holy Spirit to speak to me through these pages and then having many "Selah" moments to pause and really let the truths sink in. God has really spoken to me through this book and I'm so glad it was recommended by Jonathan Helser on Instagram. 🙏❤️

This book doesn’t teach you how to pray it invites you to pray! Written so gently and simply and yet with so much depth. It makes me want to stop reading and pray.
