MSI GAMING GPUs on diet

MSI refreshes its entire GAMING lineup with thinner models.

MSI, up until now, had just two models in their GAMING SLIM series, specifically the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB version. However, today, MSI has confirmed a complete revamp of their entire lineup, featuring the RTX 4090, 4080, 4070 Ti, 4070, and 4060 Ti, all graced with a sleek new design.

The GAMING SLIM series is available with the GeForce RTX 4090, GeForce RTX 4080, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, GeForce RTX 4070, and GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics processors.

However, the official press release focuses on three SKUs: the 4070 Ti, 4070, and 4060 Ti, suggesting that the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 will be introduced later. Notably, MSI has decided not to produce a GAMING SLIM version for the RTX 4060. With the two color options and the availability of both factory overclocked and non-overclocked versions, the entire lineup should exceed 20 different models.

MSI RTX 4070 Ti GAMING SLIM

The hallmark of the SLIM series is its triple-fan cooling solution, equipped with Torx Fan 5.0, a copper baseplate, and up to 8 heat pipes. While the exact configuration may vary among models, this description is expected to apply to all AD104/AD106 variants.

In terms of size, the RTX 4070 Ti adopts a 2.5-slot design (5.1 cm), measuring 30.7×12.5 cm in length and width. This means it is indeed slimmer compared to the GAMING X TRIO, which measures 33.7×14.0x6.2 cm. Additionally, it’s lighter by half a kilogram, weighing 1.09 kg as opposed to 1.59 kg. On the other hand, the non-Ti model of the RTX 4070 will feature nearly the same cooler size but in a 2-slot design. The same cooler is adopted by RTX 4060 Ti 16GB SKU.

For those considering the GAMING SLIM series over the older GAMING TRIO models, it’s worth noting that the SLIM models have slightly lower clock speeds, although this difference is hardly noticeable, standing at just 15 MHz (0.5%) for RTX 4070 Ti.

Since some of these cards are already on sale, it is confirmed that all GAMING SLIM models come with a branded VGA support bracket and necessary power adapters. Interestingly, those choosing the WHITE SLIM series will receive white power cables.
