PETALING JAYA: To resolve issues pertaining to the order fees of p-hailing riders, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he will meet all delivery operators in a week’s time.

At the same time, to ensure all of their problems could be channelled to the right platform, Anwar announced a RM1mil allocation to establish a formal committee for the riders.

The Prime Minister said this in response to a query by a p-hailing rider who told Anwar that their order fees have now been reduced from RM7 per order to less than RM5.

“Give me one week and I will call up all p-hailing companies and meet them at the Prime Minister’s Office. I understand that making RM2,000 a month is not enough.

“Let me air your views to them that the rate is too low. After everything’s settled, buy me a teh tarik,” he said during a question and answer session at the "Temu Anwar: Selangor X Belia P-Hailing” dialogue here today (July 22).

Anwar also told the youths and riders to set up a committee so that their issues could be streamlined and sorted out through a formal platform.

“To streamline all of the riders' activities nationwide, I have approved RM1mil to an informal secretariat to establish a committee.

“I want all initiatives for p-hailing riders to continue and this is important because we do not want to be disorganised.

“And I understand there are various issues such as getting loans, insurance and others.”

He said the committee could also help riders find other jobs, adding that he understood that most of them would like a change in careers at some point.

In response to another question on how the riders could avoid being taken advantage of by their respective companies, Anwar again urged them to set up the committee.

“The Prime Minister is giving you a solution, which is to set up a committee. First, I will call all the operators to meet me, then I can summon the committee to hear your troubles.

“Give me seven days, I promise you.”
