Hey, all! If you've found my page, chances are you know who I am and what I write. However, on the off chance you don't, or if you want to know why I've come to Patreon, keep reading! I've made this Patreon to form a community of readers, writers, bloggers, and friends! I've changed the Tiers (as of January 2019) so $1 a month gets you *most* benefits to enable a "pay-what-you-what" attitude towards this. ;) I'm an author, plain and simple. I am not with an agent or publishing house, so that makes me an indie author. This means I write, promote, and market all of my work by myself; no publicist, no team. My genre for a long time was solely paranormal romance, but I've recently delved into the world of erotic romance, science fiction, and more! All of my themes remain the same: Dark, deep tales that examine the human condition under extraordinary conditions.  Here are some things readers on Amazon have to say: "Relatable and moving" "A complex and intense story" "Dark, disturbing, and compelling" "It's rare that I read a book and then immediately buy the rest of the series!" "I'm emotionally drained" "Nikki Rae is a master at creating suspense, intrigue, and addictive plot lines that keep readers up all night long."  However, all of these things (editing, promoting, ads, book covers, etc) cost money--and I try to spend as little as I can, yet it still adds up each month. As a result, I've had to do even more work on my own without the help of PR companies or a personal assistant. It can be a bit soul-sucking to only be concerned over whether a book will help me break even and maybe even provide a profit with each release.  That's where you come in. Of course your patronage is important, but more than that, I've always wanted to build more of a community around my writing where readers can have a unique experience they may not get with other authors. The idea of exchanging our own individual thoughts and input, as well as getting to know each other like one big family has been a goal of mine since day one (almost 6 years ago!). So let's get to the good stuff: what you will get in return: More content (Bonus scenes, never released work, art, and more) There's a LOT I don't publish because it either doesn't work in the story, it's too dark/twisted/messed up for the majority of an audience, or I just don't have room for certain scenes and ideas. I've also been toying with the idea of writing books from different points of view, making it so you decide what happens next, and more! Advanced news, advanced books, and everything else in advance! I will come here first to announce when books will be released, when there is news, when I need a shoulder to cry on or vent, etc. You get a unique, honest, nothing-off-limits experience as a patron you won't get on any other platform where you follow me. Anything goes here! Books that will only be released here Because I like the dark, strange, disturbing, and twisted, some of my books aren't marketable to reviewers and a mass of new readers. Therefore, I will release them only here, to my patrons, because chances are if you're here, you like that about my writing and you want more of it. Content I am not posting anywhere else Things like podcasts, vlogs, videos, polls, ideas, inspiration boards, graphic novel-like content (what I'm calling books with intermittent art thrown in lol), and more! The beauty is that you can also suggest what you want! Eventually: One of my big goals is to have a sort of "Patron Box" that would go out each month or every other month with paperbacks, swag, and other goodies. When you're an indie author, it isn't always guaranteed that your work will be seen or reach your ideal readers. Added to that, it's impossible to make money unless you put out books every single month, which while I would love to do that, it just isn't feasible to spend time and money on promoting things that ultimately may not get the attention they deserve.  So, this was sort of my solution. I can consistently create content without the stress and worry that no one will care! Besides that, I want to build a community of readers and writers who evenly exchange with one another! It's important to support art and make it visible, and it's personally important to me that I reward those who support me.
