Don’t Let Ventfort Hall Go Down the Drain Now!

Thank you all for your support on our campaign! Through the generous donations of community members and private donors, we have almost met our goal. Please call Ventfort Hall at [phone redacted] if you are still interested in making a donation.

Who We Are

Ventfort Hall is a historic house museum in Lenox, MA. Built in 1893 for Sarah Morgan (sister of prominent banker J.P. Morgan), it has since been through various uses and was ultimately abandoned and facing the wrecking ball in the 1990s. A group of Lenox citizens came together and raised the funds needed to start the process of saving the house. An incredible amount of work has been done to save the house so far, but there is still plenty to be done.

What We Do

Ventfort Hall primarily offers a variety of programming, tours, and educational offerings for the community of the Berkshires and beyond. Year-round events include lectures, now viewable both in-person and online via Zoom, as well as tours of the historic mansion. The house also is available for private events such as weddings, birthday parties, tea parties, and more. The house has also been the set of a select few movies and TV shows!

What We’re Raising For

One of our primary fundraising goals revolves around continuing the restoration of the house. We are currently faced with installing new gutters, scuppers, and downspouts -- all critical to keeping the building operational and functioning. Prior to the arrival COVID-19, we had been working on replacing and renovating the outside of the mansion.  Last year we installed the North Gable with a view to replacing the rain gutters, scuppers, and downspouts to protect the new brickwork in 2020.  All of that stopped with the shutdown and quarantine.  Now, winter and bad weather are approaching and we have already suffered damage to the salon ceiling due to leakage.

Why This Matters

Restoring the mansion means retaining access to the history of Lenox, the Berkshires, and beyond. Not only will historic architectural aspects of the house be saved, but preserved for generations to come to learn about the Gilded Age period in Lenox and how it affects us today. So many houses like ours have been lost, and we are counting on you to help keep that number from rising. You lose a building only once, but it has to be saved every day.

Thank You!

Thank you for reading our story. Please know that any contribution helps us further our mission to preserve Ventfort Hall and save another piece of Lenox history when so many have been lost. Should we exceed our fundraising goal, all additional donations will be used for other upcoming restoration projects such as, but not limited to, our roof and towers.

How You Can Help
