AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT to be discontinued

AMD has reportedly stopped the production of Radeon RX 6650XT, claims the source at Board Channels forum.

The Board Channels forums are buzzing with rumors and whispers from insiders in the GPU industry. While not every piece of information shared there can be taken as gospel, some facts can be easily substantiated, as is the case here. According to the latest report, AMD has put a halt to the production of the Navi 23 RX 6650 XT model, and it’s anticipated that the existing stock will be depleted by the end of this month.

The RX 6650 XT, which was introduced just last year alongside a slew of refreshed RDNA2-based RX 6×50 series GPUs, is now facing dwindling availability. Interestingly, board partners in China have reacted by slashing its price from its initial 3099 RMB to as low as 2000 RMB, or even 1739 RMB at times. The reason behind this price drop is actually quite straightforward—it’s the launch of a newer graphics card.

As a reminder, the RX 6650 XT is built on the Navi 23 XT architecture, featuring 2048 Stream Processors and 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit interface. This model has been succeeded by the Radeon RX 7600, which hit the market at a lower launch price. This card offers nearly the same specs with 2048 cores and 8GB 128-bit memory configuration. Both models are also limited to PCIe Gen4 x8 interface.

For gamers who are deciding between the RX 7600 and the RX 6600 series, opting for the newer RDNA3 architecture might make more sense. This choice grants access to the latest technologies like FSR3 with Anti-Lag+, which is slated for release in the upcoming weeks, RX 6600 users will get FSR3 support, but not Anti-Lag+.
