Multi-talented musician, Sxint Peter—also known as Peter Rose—celebrates the release of his recent single, “Brooklyn Baby/Did me Bad.” In just about a month, the single, produced by DJ Swanko, amassed some three million streams and continues to gain steam. Straight off his upcoming project, "P.U.R.P.L.E" (Pinned Up Realities Painting Life Experiences), “Brooklyn Baby” is drawing well-deserved attention to the versatile artist.

“‘Brooklyn Baby’ is a relatable record. It’s a song about me going through a real situation with my child’s mother. I feel like a lot of fathers would relate to it. It’s the untold story we don’t say in songs, but I chose to say it,” shares Sxint Peter of the inspiration behind his latest release. While he may not have a great relationship with his son’s mother, he now has a record that many can understand and appreciate. For select audiences, “Did me Bad” is a clean version of the song.

“My music reflects what I’m going through. It’s a day in the life of Sxint Peter. It’s real and authentic,” shares the artist. Sxint Peter meshes lyrics and rhythm in the style of an emerging sub-genre of hip hop that marries Eastside Rap with Down South Trap. In addition to creating his own music, Sxint Peter is a talented writer with credits in collaboration with G Easy, Rotimi, Jaquae, and many more notable artists. His ability to write for a vast audience and across genres demonstrates his mastery of the craft and understanding of distinct listeners.

The Harlem, New York City, native started his musical career at a young age. In his early days, Sxint Peter’s brother, a DJ and producer, motivated him to develop his musical talent. Through a combination of encouragement, dedication, and a strong work ethic, Sxint Peter began developing his unique vocal range and musical style, incorporating elements of classical and modern music. His early influences include Stevie Wonder, Biggie, Tupac, Scott Joplin, and more.

While studying musical theory at the Juilliard School of Music, he mastered the elegance and structure of traditional music. In everyday life, Sxint Peter juxtaposes his love for classical with his passion for R&B and hip hop, with a dash of rock for the perfect mix.

When he first came into the scene, Sxint Peter was known as Hugo Da Boss, a hip-hop artist in Harlem and the surrounding metro area. His collaborations within the hip-hop community helped develop his voice as a singer and songwriter. Sxint Peter believes that his music evokes a particular mood—and color. In this case, the color is purple because it represents the constant state of change that we experience throughout life. As showcased in his upcoming project, purple plays a large role in the life of Sxint Peter.

When he sits down to create new music, the writer follows a tried-and-true process. “Sometimes I’ll freestyle in the studio if I don’t have my whole song together but usually I listen to the beat first and let it take me where my concept needs to be. My writing process is straight forward. I sit in the dark with my purple light on and create a vibe to zone out. Then I get to the studio and record it.”

For Sxint Peter, it isn’t about where he’s been but who he has shared the road with. After years of self-development and experience across the industry, Sxint Peter has amassed countless credits and features, and he is proudest of his experience collaborating with and writing for signed and independent artists alike. “I have more growing to do as an artist and I’m really big on remaining a student in the game.”

In the coming months, Sxint Peter looks forward to releasing more music to fans and to continue to create and brand himself. “I’m excited about the whole process. Coming from 0 to 100.” One particular aspect he can’t wait to share is music that showcases his talent as a classical pianist. “It’s a super different vibe that I’ve never done before.” Fans can look forward to a “Brooklyn Baby” video in which Sxint Peter plays piano, raps, and sings at the same time.
