Students' Perceptions of the Use of YouTube Videos in Learning Writing Report Text for the Twelfth Grade Students of SMK N 4 Yogyakarta

Abstrak

The COVID-19 pandemic affects various aspects of a country, one of which is education. Education in Indonesian that took place with a face-to-face system turned online due to the pandemic. The online system requires technology that can be used as a method and medium for delivering material to students. One of the media that helps in learning is YouTube video media. YouTube video is a new web-based technology that can share various kinds of videos, this is one of the media that can help student learning. Then, this study aims to see how students perceive learning using YouTube videos in learning to write report text and to find out the advantages and disadvantages of using YouTube videos in learning writing report text.

This research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this research were the twelfth-grade of hospitality accommodation of SMK N 4 Yogyakarta. The data collection techniques consist of three steps, there are questionnaire, interview, and documentation. This research was done by online research because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. This research found that students have positive perceptions by learning to use YouTube videos in learning report text. Then, by learning to use YouTube videos, researchers also found that there were advantages and disadvantages that students got in this study. Then, the disadvantages that students get, namely, internet connection problems and some spelling in YouTube videos.
