Book Review

Cobble Hill by Cecily von Ziegesar is a great novel about families in a Brooklyn neighborhood.

Stuart is an ex-boyband member. His wife Mandy is so unhappy that she decides to fake a disease leaving Stuart to deal with all household and parenting duties. Peaches is the new school nurse married to Greg.  Stuart and Peaches develop crushes on each other. Roy a famous novelist is having trouble starting his new novel. He just moved to Cobble Hill with his wife Wendy for her job.  There are more characters and lots of drama.

Cobble Hill starts out giving a good introduction to all the characters current situations. Then the drama starts. I read Cecily von Ziegesar novels for the drama and Cobble Hill did not disappoint.  There is so much going on with all of these characters.  All the characters are lying and hiding something.  There were so many times I just couldn’t wait for the other characters to discover the secrets or I wanted to find out. The characters have separate stories but keep intertwining with each other.

I really enjoyed how multiple generations where represented in this book.  The parents and children were dealing with completely different problems and keeping secrets from each other. There were so many storylines, but von Ziegesar made it easy to keep track of all the storylines and characters.  Sometimes with similar books I have trouble keeping track of characters but not in this book. All of the characters were so different, and dealing with very different problems.

I chose Cobble Hill because I am a big fan of Gossip Girl. While I enjoyed Cobble Hill, I don’t think anything will beat Gossip Girl. I will definitely continue reading any books Cecily von Ziegesar publishes.

The ending of the book was crazy.  Von Ziegesar really built up to a big event near the end.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Pete Simonelli and thought he did a great job. His voice really fit with the story and he talked with the right amount of emotion.

I recommend Cobble Hill to anyone that is a fan of dramatic fiction novels especially fans of Cecily von Ziegesar.
