KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong extended their Hari Raya Aidiladha greetings to all Muslims in Malaysia today.

In a post by Istana Negara on Facebook, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah prayed that the sacrifices of Malaysians in maintaining harmony and well-being of the country will be rewarded by Allah SWT.

“His Majesty also prays that the haj of Malaysian pilgrims will be accepted by Allah SWT and they will return home safely,” the post said yesterday, as reported by Bernama.

According to Istana Negara, Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah left to perform wukuf in Arafah and later moved to Muzdalifah for the mabit (overnight stay) on Tuesday.

Their Majesties were accompanied in Mecca by Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah as well as their children.

The royal couple performed tawaf and saie at the Grand Mosque yesterday, the 10th day of Zulhijjah 1444H in the Muslim calendar.

“His Majesty expressed gratitude to Allah SWT for being blessed with the grace to spend time in Arafah and stay in Muzdalifah as preparation for the final stage of the haj pilgrimage,” read the post.

Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah are scheduled to return home on July 2.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in his Hari Raya Aidiladha wishes, said the sacrifice shown by the Prophet Ibrahim should be remembered.

“The struggle to move forward calls us to set aside ego and the interests of family and relatives for the benefit of the people as a whole, especially those that are weak and marginalised.

“Let us unite our strengths, for a country that is advanced, peaceful and caring to its people,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urged all to share their blessings with the needy.

“On this day we celebrate by reflecting on how willing we are to sacrifice for the good of the ummah (Muslim community), which is a much-treasured characteristic in creating a Madani society,” he said on Facebook.

Meanwhile, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong called for safety on the road during the holiday exodus.

“To those using the roads to travel to your hometowns or vacationing with your loved ones, please be responsible. If you are tired or sleepy, rest at a safe spot.

“I pray that all arrive at their destinations safely. So too to those undergoing the haj, may it all go smoothly,” the former transport minister said on Facebook.
