In China, they are preparing to begin mass production of the compact sports electric car SC-01 at a price of $40,000 (~3.8 million rubles) with a power plant with a capacity of 435 horsepower.
About a year ago, it became known that a Chinese startup called Small Sports Car (SSC) was developing a compact electric sports car. A year has passed, and the company announced the start of sales.
From the outside, it looks like a cross between a Lancia Stratos and a first-generation Tesla Roadster (which is based on the Lotus Elise of the time). The good news is that the production car looks almost identical to the renderings from a year ago.
Using a tubular space frame design around the batteries and driver will provide the EV with excellent rigidity and weight savings. SSC has set a target of a curb weight of 1,300 kg, which is approximately 240 kg lighter than the combustion-engined Audi TT.
Although the size of the battery has not yet been disclosed, in 2022 Small Sports Car said it plans to give its new product a range of 500 km on a single battery charge.
Production of the SC-01 is scheduled to begin before the end of the year. Unfortunately, we still don’t know if the automaker plans to sell the car outside of China.
