Are UPM Researchers Ready for Open Science?

Malaysia Open Science Platform (MOSP) http://mosp.gov.my/ is a research data sharing platform by Malaysian researchers. This platform allows dataset to be shared and accessed by others. It follows the principle of Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR).

Open Science states that research data can be shared and accessed depending on the access level by the owner of the data. Research data will be deposited into UPM Research Data Repository (http://putrarepo.upm.edu.my/), and subsequently connected to MOSP. If the dataset is confidential, or embargoed due to intellectual property issues, the present of metadata must be made available. This will allow others to be aware of these types of research projects (with issues) and will need to contact the dataset owner if wish to access or retrieve the data. This will inevitably enhance collaboration efforts, hence reducing duplication of research.

This quick survey aims to identify the willingness of UPM researchers regarding open data – i.e., the sharing and reusing of research data. The responses are confidential and anonymous. For more information on the survey, please contact: Dr Zubaidah Iberahim (ext: 6947; email: baidah@upm.edu.my) / Roziana Shamsuri (ext: 8634; email: rozianasham@upm.edu.my)
