Falling in Love #2

A Risk Worth Taking

Ellie

Lincoln Alexander might think he’s too old for me, but he’s wrong. A fourteen-year age gap is nothing when you’re desperate to feel alive again.

The wealthy business owner has only ever seen me as off limits, but he has the power to put me back together—to chase away my demons with just his touch.

So, for one intense night, without him knowing who I am, I put my trust and pleasure in his hands.

My plan is to walk away, ready to move forward with my life, but when the doctor tells me that I’m pregnant, I find myself taking two steps back.

Lincoln

One night isn’t enough with the masked, green-eyed woman who walked into my club and turned my world upside down.

After I gave her what she wanted, again and again, she walked away without a trace.

When I finally discover the identity of the mysterious beauty who stole my heart on Valentine’s Day—and the secret she’s been keeping—my heart stops.

Ellie Bardot is all grown up, but I remember the innocent girl she was, even if she doesn’t. I hate that she lied to me, almost as much as I hate that I still want her.

Now I’m torn between being the man she needs me to be and doing the right thing.

4.5 stars - I highly recommend reading The Risk of Falling (Sienna and Micah’s book). Sienna is Ellie’s older sister who raised her. However the author does a good job of summarizing the events of TRoF so that Ellie and Lincoln’s book can be read as a standalone.

***

Ellie and Lincoln were everything I’d been waiting for! Ellie has been through some stuff her family doesn’t know about. She is ready to take her power back, and her plan involves Lincoln and a masquerade ball.

Meanwhile, Lincoln knows that Ellie is off limits as his brother's young sister-in-law. One masked night between them changes their lives forever, and Lincoln is in for a pleasant shock when he finds out who his mystery woman is…and that his mystery woman is having their baby.

I was happy to see these two together! Lincoln has always been a part of Ellie’s support system, so it’s no surprise how much she trusted him. It was fun seeing Lincoln go from eternal bachelor status to being obsessed with his masked companion. If you love age gap, secret pregnancy and hidden identity, The Risk of Falling is worth the read!

TROPES: age gap (14 years), hidden identity, secret pregnancy, heroine with traumatic past, rich hero

Initial Thoughts 1/13/24: This book…This series…was just EVERYTHING! I LOVED it ALL!!! I finished my ARC last night and the bonus chapter was the perfect cherry on top 🫶🏻

Review: This book…This series…was just EVERYTHING! I LOVED it ALL!!!

While I was reading THE RISK OF FALLING I knew I needed Lincoln and Ellie's story, not only were they great secondary characters but there was a pull to them that said there story wasn't finished they needed their own HEA and I am soooo thrilled that Nikki Ash gave it to us.

This story takes place after THE RISK OF FALLING but there are events that occurred in that book that are mentioned in this one, but even more than then that, the events have influenced the way Ellie is currently living and it plays a big part of her life in this book so I would recommend reading that book prior to this one. Those events are not only mentioned in this book but more detail is given. I think going in knowing Ellie's emotional state and her feelings towards Lincoln will enhance this story for readers.

maaaaaaaaaaan I loved this story! I know I’ve said this a bunch of times before, but Nikki really has this writing thing down pat!

This story was a perfect blend of sexy and suspense. The chemistry between characters and their development, as individuals and as a couple, was written perfectly. With this age-gap I normally find the stories a little cliché and lacking in originality, but Nikki turned this one on a dime and made it so easy and relatable that I honestly never once thought of their age difference except when it was talked about on the page. They weren’t your “typical” age-gap couple, and this wasn’t a typical age-gap storyline and I think that’s why I was able to get lost in it and read it as quickly as I did. I didn’t stop from the moment I started, and it actually only took me a handful of hours.

There is only one small, but significant plot-point that I didn’t care for because it just felt so farfetched I just didn’t really see the point and it happened at the very end so … *shrug* I mean that is really the only fault I can find in this story LOL So obviously I recommend you GO DO THE THING ASAP!

Sidebar: The audiobook went live today so you'd best believe I am listening to this perfect story soon!

Another addictive read!

If you have read book one The Risk Of Falling, then you will have already met Lincoln and Ellie. And we know that Ellie had a crush on Lincoln, however there's a fourteen year age gap so it was in no way reciprocated !

Fast forward a lot of years and we soon discover that Ellie's past has more trauma than we thought and my heart hurt so bad for her!
Then she gets sneaky and I can understand why she did what she did, she just didn't think it through properly!

It's a good read, plenty of chemistry, passion, want, angst and an hea - what more could you want?!!

*I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review. 4.5stars

Not What I Expected

𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 3/5 ⭐️
𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲: 1/3 🌶

Okayy sooooo I really wanted to like this book. I love most of Nikki Ash’s books and when I heard she was coming out with this book, which had a bunch of my favorite tropes, I was SO excited. But it did not turn out in the way I expected 😭

Honestly, I felt like there was no actual romance between the fmc and mmc. Up until chapter 22 or so, Lincoln (our Mmc) admitted that he was in love with Ellie, but after reading his POV’s, I would have never come to that conclusion. I also didn’t like the fact that Sabrina was pregnant with Ellie, only because it sometimes felt like she was the main character instead of our actual fmc.

Other than that, this was an alright read. I did skip to chapter 33 towards the end, as that’s when the baby was born and that’s all I ended up caring about 😆

Such a good story. Getting to see how Ellie got to where she was at the end of The Risk of Falling was great. I loved Lincoln and Ellie’s story, their chemistry was off the charts. Loved having more of Micha and Sienna also.

Dnf @ 71%. I just found the whole premise unbelievable. Lincoln didn't recognise the person he has seemingly helped raise for the past 6 years, just because she was wearing a mask? And she goes to a club, for the express purpose of having sex, but "didn't think" of birth control because she isn’t sexually active, despite having tried to have sex MULTIPLE times with many different men. And then to top it off, Lincoln just didn't use condoms, with a woman he literally just met, in a sex club he owns, and frequently has one night stands in. That's an STI waiting to happen.

Great story. We get grown up Ellie. Sad to see her so far away from her sister when she went off to school, but it is great to see their journey and the families they create. I loved it!!

⚠️Check Trigger Warnings⚠️

I have been anxiously awaiting this release after meeting Lincoln and Ellie in The Risk of Falling. I couldn’t get them out of my head for months! And Nikki Ash did not disappoint with their story!!! So freaking good!!

Ellie has been crushing on Lincoln since she was fourteen but Lincoln’s never seen her as more than a “kid sister” that he’ll do anything to protect. After a traumatic event occurs, Ellie runs off to California, leaving her sister and the only man that’s ever made her feel safe, behind.

Ellie can’t move on. Her past is holding her down and she’s needs to break free from it. But every time she gets close to a man, her walls go up higher and higher. Lincoln is the only man that she’s ever trusted but he’ll never give her what she wants; what she needs.

This was such an amazing read. Lincoln is a total good guy. He’s sexy AF, a dirty talker, dominant at the perfect times, but also so giving when he needs to be. When he meets a mystery woman at his club, for the first time he’s feeling a pull he’s never felt before. He can feel something’s off and he gives his mystery woman the control she needs. When their night comes to an end, Lincoln will do anything to find her. But what happens when the woman he’s been searching for has been under his nose the entire time? And she’s off-limits!!

For real, Lincoln and Ellie are HOT!!! You can feel the insane chemistry and the energy between these two. Lincoln is so patient with Ellie and wants to give her everything she’s ever wanted.

The past should stay in the past but for Ellie and Lincoln, the past may have just caught up to them once again.

For fans of a spicy romantic suspense, this is a must read.

Happy Reading 💋

★★★★. Forbidden, age gap, secret pregnancy with fake identity and I ate it up. I loved this book. I loved the characters and the plot. I didn’t love the time jumps because every chapter it was either a few days to a few months and I felt like we were missing important information. Granted I didn’t read the first book, so I was a little confused but not that much.

Ellie was so strong and I felt so bad reading her backstory and why she left her home town. It hurt reading how she thought she had to keep it in because she didn’t want to hurt her sister or take away her happiness. The way she went about gaining back her control in sex was wrong but it was the only way. She couldn’t have known the consequences and I like how she took responsibility for it when they found out.

Lincoln I liked. I do think he was stupid at times. His reaction to finding out his mystery woman was Ellie was so normal because he saw Ellie as the teenager who was sisters with his brothers wife and that’s it and now he saw her as his woman. I’m thankful the author didn’t make this creepy with the age gap. The constant pushing from Lincoln got annoying, but I’m glad he realized his feelings and had to work for it.

“The only thing that will prove you’re mine is when you’re wearing my ring on your finger and your last name is Alexander.” Her eyes go wide, and I chuckle at having shocked her.
“No, I’m not proposing,” I say. “I want to, but I’m afraid you’ll think it’s only because of the baby. So, for now, I’ll mark you with my mouth, watch our son grow in your belly, and convince you to live with me. Then, after the baby is born, I’ll beg you to become my wife.”

OMG. I devoured this book! Though, grab the tissues because you’re going to need them. Ellie’s journey is a heart shattering one that will have you in tears for everything she’s been through and trying to be the strong indpendent woman she is and handle it all on her own. That is until her brother-in-law shows up to bring her home and the truths come out. Ellie wanted one night to get over her past and that led to Lincoln and a night they had, but it ended with Ellie being pregnant. She knew she couldn’t go home until she figured out what she was going to do, but Micah pushed her hand. Then everything gets blown up. Lincoln, Micah’s brother, finds out his dream girl is Ellie and add in he is going to be a father. Ellie now has to figure out how to be around Lincoln and how to be the best mom she can be no matter what. Then add in the drama and random dangerous events that keep happening, everyone is on alert. Though the more time Ellie and Lincoln spend together, the more these two start to realize what could be between them, but their family is not making it easy. A Risk Worth Taking is exactly that, a risk worth reading because you will fall in love with these characters and the heartbreakingly beautiful journey they go through. This book has me in the edge of myseat with the few twist and turns you don’t see coming.

A Risk Worth Taking has three of my favorite tropes rolled into one and I couldn’t get enough!!! This book was hot, sexy, dangerous and full of love!!! Lincoln battled with his head and his heart but Ellie consumed his thoughts and his soul. These two were breathtaking and they set the sheets on fire. The danger and suspense had me hanging on for dear life! Some risks are worth taking and this was an absolute page tuner that had me hanging on every word!!!

If you've read The Risk of Falling (Which you ABSOLUTELY SHOULD!), You knew enough going in that Ellie and Lincoln's story was going to be powerful, poignant, painful and passionate and honestly it was all those things and so many more. My heart broke for Ellie, and I found myself in tears multiple times even as my heart cheered her on. Lincoln of course was hot and swoony, but I'd be lying if I did not admit to desperately wanting to give him a good smack and a serious talking to about getting his head out of his...well, you know what. Lol All and all, a wicked workout for your heart and emotions awaits as you read this truly beautiful and incredibly moving romance.

No one does surprise baby quite like Nikki Ash. She takes a trope we know and sprinkles it with her special fairy dust and makes it something fresh and new and totally Nikki.

This is Ellie and Lincoln’s story, and man it’s a good one. On paper they shouldn’t work, there’s the age difference, there’s the fact that Ellie is his brother’s sister-in-law, and those are just a couple of reasons. But after one special night their lives are changed in an instant. With an outside evil threatening their world on top of everything else will they be able to make this work? Read this book and see what happens!

This is the second book in a duet, I’m going to tell you that you don’t HAVE to read The Risk of Falling, but that would be a disservice. These books go together, and you’re going to have an even better experience if you read them both in order.

I am a Nikki Ash fan, I simply love the way she tells a story. They are always engaging, and filled with emotion and spice!

OMG this book was amazing!! Ellie is broken, had some things happen that no one should have to deal with. When she decides to try to work through her problems she goes back to who she feels safest with, Lincoln. The twists and turns with this story had me so enthralled I couldn’t get enough. I couldn’t put this book down. In Micah and Sienna’s book we see the connection between these two slowly brewing even though they are years apart. The chemistry when everything happens is just beautiful and amazing. Nikki is such a talented author with how she can write such amazing stories.
I highly recommend this book. Told in dual POV.

Once you pick up A Risk Worth Taking you will not be able to put it down! The chemistry between Ellie and Lincoln jumps off pages of their story.
Ellie has been through it in life and one night seeks out Lincoln to help break down walls she has built so high. One-night changes everything for Ellie.
When Lincoln and Ellie re-connect sparks fly and they need to figure out how to move forward. It’s a beautifully written story of two people who struggle to find themselves while also finding peace in one another.
The story will keep you on your toes with happiness and drama! This book will have you hooked from page 1! Highly recommend.

A risk worth taking by Nikki Ash is her newest novel in the Falling in Love series and I LOOOOOVED IT!

Ellie and Lincoln are perfection!
Everyone knows I'm not a huge fan of age gap but I loved their story so much! I loved how you saw a little bit of their start during Siennas book but from Ellies side.
Lincoln has always been protective of Ellie and never saw her as more then Sienna's sister until she turned up pregnant with his child!

I enjoyed this book alot and could not stop reading it at all!!

A Risk Worth Taking- Nikki Ash
Narrated by Lexi Evans and Gregory Salinas

Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

This book was so good. This duet was so good! I thought Micah was swoony in book one, and he is, but he’s got nothing on Lincoln. There were a few times where I wanted to shake Lincoln but he came around. I also wanted to shake Ellie a bit, because the girl doesn’t make great life choices. Even if some of them do end up working out for her in the end, she comes up with these plans that aren’t the best. 😂😂 I did love Ellie’s tenacity though, when she wants something she really goes for it. She’s wanted Lincoln since she was 14 years old and lo and behold 8 years later they are together, after some major hurdles they have to climb over, but it was great to see their story play out.

Lexi Evans and Gregory Salinas did an incredible job on the narration. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I don’t think I’ve heard anything from either of them before, but they did an amazing job.

Audiobook Review: Nikki Ash NEVER fails me 👏 I was sucked into this book from the very beginning of the audio. Hell, even the end of the last book! I was salivating for Lincoln and Ellie’s story, and it did not disappoint! Ellie went through a lot of trauma and she has taken it upon herself to overcome her fears. This leads her to Lincoln because he’s always been safe for her. Well, you know where this story goes but not what happens. She’s determined to see a brighter future for herself and those she loves.
I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t what I got and I love that! I will say that this book has darker notes than the other Nikki Ash books I’ve read, so please protect your mental state and read trigger warnings if you have them.

Gregory Salina’s and Lexi Evans did an amazing job narrating this book. They gave life to these characters. Definitely recommend the audio version of this book!

✅Age gap
✅Suprise pregnancy
✅Secret identity

This story follows Ellie and Lincoln. Ellie is Siennas younger sister who we met in the previous book. She’s always had a thing for Lincoln who is Micah’s brother aka Siennas brother in law. Despite their age difference Ellie has always felt safe around Lincoln which is why she decides to go incognito to put her trust and pleasure in his hands 😏

The only flaw with this book was that the first couple chapters were very repetitive because I did read the first book.. scratch that several parts …I felt so bad for Ellie and what she’s gone through. I had a love hate relationship with Lincoln… like he spent so long talking about wanting his mystery women, and when he finds out who she is it’s like his feelings let the building … Red flag. I am glad that Ellie got her happy ending, she deserved it!

Nikki Ash is back with the second book in her Falling in Love series bringing readers Ellie and Lincoln’s story, both of whom we met in The Risk Of Falling book, her sister’s story.

Ellie has been through so much in her short life, experiencing more than many others would in their entire lives. A Risk Worth Taking is a lovely continuation to the girls story, we get to see how much Ellie has grown up since we first met her in The Risk of Falling. Ellie has been keeping a secret from everyone, there’s always been a special place in Lincoln’s heart for Ellie, now readers gets to see how their relationship changes.

Another superb five star read from Ash. I loved it, and I highly recommend it.

It's not often that I get impatient about a release, but with the ending of The Risk of Falling, the anticipation of this second piece of the Falling in Love series was intense. I NEEDED to know Ellie's story.

I'm definitely one of those readers who dives in and can't stop turning the pages. I'll cuddle up in bed and read the whole book on one go, sleep be damned.

Lincoln and Ellie made me lose sleep, and I'm not mad about it.

I loved how Ellie kept things anonymous when she hooked up with Lincoln. In a mask for their whole, extremely hot encounter.

"I want to be with someone who knows what he’s doing. Who will show me what good sex feels like, and then, like you, I want to walk away.”

That was supposed to be it, right? Bang him and bow out?

Nope!

Insert one of my favourite tropes: accidental pregnancy.

We deal with a bit of frustration with these two because Ellie is off-limits ...

There's a bit of suspense carrying over from the first book, and I loved how it fit in perfectly with this story. (HELLO, protective men?! Yes, please!)

This book was well worth the wait, and I encourage you to read not only this one, but Micah and Sienna's story as well.

Thank you, Nikki Ash and Enticing Journey Book Promotions for the eARC in exchange for an honest review

Well dang! I always come to Nikki to get my secret/surprise baby Fox but Lincoln and Ellie have me more! This book was emotional and addicting!

I absolutely loved every aspect of their relationship and the fact that Lincoln was her safe place! I know people frown on age gap but the love between these two can’t be denied and there was nothing nefarious just trust and love! Ellie is a spitfire for sure and definitely headstrong. I couldn’t picture anyone else being able to love her whole the way Lincoln could!

A perfect read and great fix for my love of secret baby and steamy reads!

At the end of The Risk of Falling I KNEW that the next book would be about Elle and Lincoln. Not only was I right but it was everything I love and expect in a Nikki Ash book. All the swooning, heat and of course the surprise pregnancy which is my catnip. And it also had the added fun of having a little bit of suspense in it. I adored this book. I devoured it in less than 24 hours and then immediately didn't know what to do with myself. Love me some Elle and Lincoln.

🍼 HEA

I have read every Nikki book out there going all the way back to the fighting series, I don’t think I’ve ever read a bad book. Each book has been better than the next. Although this book is a standalone it would be beneficial to read a risk of falling first as characters do overlap.

The fmc, Ellie has been through the ringer. She’s also been in love with Lincoln since she was a kid. The only one she can talk to and feel safe with. He will never see her like that bc of their 14 yr age gap. When Ellie decides she’s ready to try, she goes to the mask party and has one night with Lincoln, disguised. U til she finds out she’s pregnant.

The, MMC, Lincoln is a billionaire playboy who has no intention of settling down least of all with his SIL. Lincoln is dominant, protective and an all around cinnamon roll hero . When danger threatens his family he vows to protect Ellie and their baby.

This was such a great book. A book full of heartfelt moments along with some moments filled with spice, connection and danger. Another hit from Nikki. Thank you to Enticing Journey for allowing me an advance copy

Nikki Ash has never, in the history of ever, disappointed me with one of her books. And she certainly didn’t start now with this one. In fact, I was absolutely enthralled. I couldn’t put it down. I was waking up at odd hours of the night, even if only for a couple minutes, just to see what would happen next.

Loved everything about this story. The romance between both Lincoln and Ellie was insane and their chemistry was absolute perfection. And while at times they made me want to smack them (I’m mainly looking at you Lincoln) they also had my heart so much in love with them it was hard to be bothered for too long. Definitely characters you never grow tired of.

I felt like Ash focused more on their relationship and everything happening between them than a larger outside force wreaking havoc snd causing angst. Lincoln brought enough angst to the story with his hot and cold. But don’t get me wrong, there is definitely havoc to be had. And it pops up at all the most inopportune times. Well, inopportune for the characters but perfect for the plot.

Great story, great characters, and sweet, sexy romance. I loved this book!! 5 Stars.
