It was a pleasure visiting Masana wa Afrika grantee partner The Action Foundation with Bonita Birungi and Dr Kennedy Mubaiwa. Their work supporting families with children with disabilities from birth through adolescence in Kenya is truly inspiring and a model for the world on inclusive early childhood development.
We were truly honored to welcome Robyn Calder Harawi, President of The ELMA Philanthropies, Bonita Birungi, Regional Director for East Africa at Elma Philanthropies, and Dr Kennedy Mubaiwa, CEO of Higherlife Foundation, to our vibrant Kibera Community Hub. Their visit provided an opportunity to exchange insights on our impactful initiatives, connect with our dedicated team, and discuss our future plans. We have had a fruitful multi-year collaboration with Elma Philanthropies and are grateful for their support! I continue to be horrified that the world is permitting these atrocities against children who could be my own. We should ALL consider it our collective responsibility to protect the children of Gaza. Because it’s the right thing to do and because how can anyone imagine peace in Israel/Palestine without stopping the cycle of violence and trauma on children.
“Since my last visit, the situation has gone from catastrophic to near collapse." Statement by UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Ted Chaiban upon conclusion of his visit to the #Gaza Strip. Read more: https://bit.ly/3O9X82y
