Food Security Grants
Archbishop Leo invites you to join the fight against hunger through ShareLife.
As countless families struggle to put food on the table, your love enabled ShareLife to respond to this need. In September 2023, the ShareLife Food Security Grants were launched, committing a total of $620,000 to the fight against hunger.
Your unwavering support of the Parish Campaign made possible this bold action. The Food Security Grants consist of three pillars:
- $300,000 in new funding to 16 parish-based food banks and meal programs, distributed through the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Greater Toronto Central Council.
- $200,000 in new funding to 12 school and agency-run food programs, distributed through Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto.
- $120,000 in funding to food programs previously launched by Catholic Charities member agencies.
“It is heart-wrenching and unacceptable that anyone today lacks access to food which is a most basic human right,” shares Archbishop Francis Leo. “Our parishioners are taking action in response to the Lord’s call to feed the hungry. Since the earliest days of the Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Toronto, the faithful have cared for those in need, on the margins of society and we continue this life-giving legacy.”
The fight against hunger needs caring people like you. Please support this work by contributing to your parish’s ShareLife Campaign. Thank you for heeding the Lord’s call to feed the hungry in your community and beyond.
