State polls: Early voter turnout rises past 50% as at 11am, says EC

KUALA LUMPUR: The early voter turnout for the six state elections and the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election was at more than 50% as at 11am Tuesday (Aug 8).

According to the Election Commission (EC), Kelantan had the highest turnout so far at 63%, followed by Kedah at 61% and Terengganu and Penang at 59%.

Negri Sembilan recorded a turnout of 60% while in Selangor it stood at 55%.

The EC added that the turnout for the Kuala Terengganu by-election was at 53% as at 9am Tuesday.

Some 260 early voting centres involving 377 channels for the Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan state elections opened their doors at 8am Tuesday (Aug 8) morning.
