2023-24 Subscription Programs:

September 29-30th: The Pow’r of Musick
A landmark collaboration celebrating music’s ability to uplift, thrill, & inspire

LD opens its season with a special collaboration featuring Kaleidoscope Vocal Ensemble, an all-star assembly of vocalists from across North America that celebrates racial, ethnic, and gender diversity through artistic residencies and educational outreach. This program features beloved choral works by English composer Henry Purcell and compelling new music by living composers Jonathan Woody, Sydney Guillaume, and Caroline Shaw. Performances will take place at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Cuyahoga Community College. These concerts will also feature singers from Cleveland School of the Arts who will work intensively with KVE and LD musicians in the lead-up to performances.

December 20-22, 2023: Noel, Noel
The “best concert of the holiday season” returns!

Special guest soprano Amanda Powell joins Les Délices for a musical journey from darkness to light and from hope to joy featuring favorite carols and festive baroque music by Praetorius, Merula, Buxtehude, and others.
Performances will be held in three unique sacred spaces in Akron, Rocky River, and Cleveland Heights.

“I love how Les Délices’ audiences trust us to introduce them to performers and composers they weren’t aware of previously.  I think it’s what keeps the experience fresh and exciting – not only for our audiences but also for our collaborating artists. We really delight in discovery and are interested in creating programs that get people thinking differently about music, culture, and history.”
- Artistic Director Debra Nagy

March 8-10, 2024: Song of Orpheus
French Baroque music inspired by the Orpheus myth

Featuring bass-baritone Jonathan Woody and  “luminous” mezzo-soprano Sophie Michaux in her LD debut, the singers will recount the story of Orpheus’ descent to the underworld, his charming of Hades, and his attempt to bring Eurydice back to the land of the living in rarely-heard cantatas by Jean-Philippe Rameau and Philippe Courbois. Concerts will be held at Knight State, Akron; Inlet Dance at Pivot Center for the Arts, Cleveland; and West Shore Unitarian Church in Rocky River. Projected English supertitles will be part of every performance.
