5th ERASMUS+ International Staff Week hosted on the UNIC Campus

The Week was organised by the Erasmus Office for a fifth year, welcoming participants from 15 different countries

The University of Nicosia hosted the fifth Erasmus+ International Staff Week, between 14 and 16 June 2023, the first one after COVID19. This annual initiative has proven a huge success, welcoming participants from various parts of the world, and providing them with a unique opportunity to experience Cypriot culture and heritage; to enhance their network; to share ideas; as well as to exchange technical knowhow and best practices in an international and intercultural environment.

More specifically, this year’s fifth Staff Week welcomed over 30 participants from 15 different countries, including Ukraine, Israel, Georgia, China, French Polynesia, India, and other European countries. The 3-day programme, put together by UNIC’s Erasmus Office, included World Café, discussions, problem-solving cases, social events, and even an interactive Greek-language crash course!

The main objectives of the programme include peer-learning, networking, transfer of knowledge, and sharing of experiences and best practices among colleagues from partner and non-partner institutions. In this way, participants bring into play examples from their own institutions, presenting best practices and innovative approaches to a host of issues. This year’s topics included the International Credit Mobility, Culture Shock, International Credit Mobility, Course Recognition, Visa Issues and Inclusion.

In the context of cultural activities, participants had the opportunity to experience a guided tour of the divided city of Nicosia, a cultural trip to the city of Larnaka, a cocktail night at the Gardens of the Future, and a night out at a traditional Cypriot tavern.

The Erasmus Office of UNIC would like to warmly thank all the participants who joined us for the fourth Erasmus+ International Staff Week. We’re already preparing for and looking forward to next year’s event on-campus!
